determine the x component of force of magnitude 2kN force which is applied from 60 degree of x axis -
a) Fx =1.414kN

c) Fx = 1.73kN

According to question 

Given magnitude of force = F = 2 KN

We need to calculate the x component of force

Also  theta = 60 deg
Thus

Fx = F * Cos theta
 Fx = 2 *  cos 60
cos 60 = 1/2
So
    Fx = 2 /2 = 1 KN

Thus Answer is b) Fx = 1 KN

Force F = 2kN which is applied from 60° of x - axis is shown in figure.

We know, if any vector r make an angle ∅ with x axis then, resolution of vector r is rcos∅i + rsin∅j
Means x - component of vector r is rcos∅ and y - component of vector r is rsin∅ .

Here, similarly Force F = 2kN make 60° with x - axis. Then X - component of force is Fcos60°
hence, Fx = Fcos60° = 2 × 1/2 = 1kN
Hence, option ( b) is correct
