The current Dettol formulation (Chloroxylenol 4.8% and the rest made up by pine oil, isopropanol, castor oil, soap and water) is a stabilised microemulsion. On dilution with water, the microemulsion destabilises releasing the pine oil and castor oil as a visible “bloom”.
