The small squares will have the same area taken together as that of the larger square. we need to find the area of both the larger square as well as the smaller square.


Area of the larger square=20*20

=400cm²

Area of the smaller square =5*5

=25cm²

Now the number of smaller square that can be cut from the larger square will be equal to area of larger square/area of smaller square

Therefore,

No of smallersquares=400cm²/25cm²

=16
