Once there was a farmer who worked hard on his farm and got good produce. Every night, he'd come home tired and sleep heartily. And this routine continued daily.
One night, he was extremely tired and went to sleep almost instantly. He was fast asleep in no time and slept soundly when he was suddenly woken up by the sound of his dog barking. The dog had seen and found thieves trying to get into the farmer's house and was trying hard to warn his master of the impending disaster. But the farmer only got more irritated with the loud noise of the dog and only wanted to beat him. In his anger, he threw a spade at the dog killing the dog on the spot. Relieved at the quiet, he went back to sleep.
The next morning, he discovered that he had been robbed and the thieves had escaped with all of his money and valuables. It was only then that he realized the dog's bark had been meant to wake him up. He deeply regretted his action but there was nothing he could do about it except being remorseful. He felt sad but nothing could change it. He had lost everything, even his dog.
