When our class teacher told us about the Children’s Day Outing to be conducted by the school, we were super excited for the event. On the morning of 14th November, we, the students of S. Mary Boarding and Day School assembled on the school premise at 8 A:M sharp. It took 4 buses for accommodating all the students and all the buses left at 8:30 A:M. I was extremely happy to have sat with all my classmates in the bus and we all started singing on our way to the Science City, Kolkata. But destiny had different plans. Suddenly we heard a loud noise and after then I could not remember anything.
When I opened my eyes, I saw myself on a hospital bed and also saw some of my friends at the adjacent beds. Then I noticed my mother weeping and father talking to the doctor. I realized that our bus met with an accident and the driver and the helper died on spot. Fortunately, none of the students lost their lives. We all had moderate injuries. My shoulder bone was dislocated and had a fracture in my ankle. However, after few days, I was discharged from the hospital with a plaster in my shoulder and ankle. My friends got discharged too in the course of time. I joined school after 3 weeks and was happy to meet my friends. We never expected that the fatal day had so bad memories in store for us.
