once there was an old farmer. he had four sons.they always quarrelled with one another. the old farmer did not like this.he was worried about their future.
one day,the farmer fell ill . his condition become serious.he called all his sons .they came and stood near his bed. the old father,than asked one of them to bring a bundle of sticks.
a bundle of sticks was brought. the wise father asked his elder son to break the bundle of sticks.he tried hard but failed to break it. then, one by one,the other sons tried hard ,they also failed to break the bundle.
the old father,than asked his son to untie the bundle.than he asked them to break the sticks.
now, each of them could break the sticks easily.the old man said" my sons, learn a lesson from these sticks. when they were united in one bundle, you failed to break it. so strength lies in unity. remain united, nobody will able to harm you. but if you quarrel among yourselves, every body can harm you."
the son followed this advice. they said " union is strength"
