Sanyogita was doing her daily school work in her house on that fateful day when she heard a commotion near the well in her backyard. She ran at once to see what happened. To her bewilderment, Raju, their neighbor's 6 year old son was struggling for life in the depth of the well.  

She jumped in to save him without thinking twice about her own life. This story of her bravery spread like wildfire. Soon she was called for the republic day celebration in Delhi by the Prime minister of India. She reached Delhi for the ceremony and so with tears of joy and pride the 10-year-old Sanyogita More received the national bravery award from the Prime Minister.
