Let us enjoy reading this story of The Wise Judge.

Two women were brought before King Solomon. Both these women had a quarrel over a single baby. Each woman was saying that she was the baby's mother.

One lady said, "Oh King! I am the baby's mother".

The other lady said, "Oh King! Believe her not. She is not the mother. I am the mother of the child".

King Solomon was confused. After a deep thought he said, "Cut the baby into two and give one part to each mother". One woman was silent. The other cried "Oh King! Let she have the baby. Let the baby live". The king gave the child to the crying mother.

The story to be developed is as follows:-

  • There were two women Sita and Gita living in a village one day Sita finds her child playing along the river and she scolds him and brings him back along with her seeing this a nearby women Gita objects and states that the child that Sita is taking home with her is her child and that it is not Sita's child they start quarrelling with each other over whose child is the kid. Listening to them a passerby suggests that they go to a wise judge to settle the dispute and they head to the judge's house.
  • The Judge being old and wise heard both sides of the story and decided to give an order. He said that the child should be cut into two halves as both the women claim it, after this Sita said to the judge, "Please Don't cut the child you can do anything to me but please don't cut the child", on the other hand, Gita was silent and did not say anything after this the Judge Said, "Sita is the rightful mother of the child as she cares about the child's life, on the other hand, you Gita don't seem to be concerned by the child's fate you just want the child." Hearing this Sita started crying as she was very happy that she finally had her child.
