Last summer, Shanti's family shifted from Muradabad to Heddi, a small village in U.P. Shanti has a small family of her mother, father and a small brother. Her father was a local postman. Shanti was very fond of studying from the start. She was a smart kid, so her father took her for admission to a good local school. The principal asked some difficult questions, but she answered all the questions correctly. But the local school principal was corrupted; he asked her father for money if he wants to get her admitted to the school. Shanti's father was not that well to do. So he excused himself and started searching for another good school for her, but Shanti was sad and angry about the whole situation. She had read that corruption is an illegal offence, so she decided to take action against the wrong. She collected evidence about the school illegal doings and showed them to local police. Finally, the police took action against the school and thus, by fighting corruption in the local school Shanti Devi proved the truth of the adage honesty is the best policy.
