Rahul and Arjun were heading home from school one day. They were happy to be through the tiring school term and they looked forward to enjoying their holiday.
They decided to take a shortcut through a busy market street. Rahul spotted an envelope that was thrown in the trash can. Out of curiousity, he picked up the envelope and put it in his school bag.
Arjun was too pre-occupied to notice what his best friend had done. Rahul had developed the habit of picking up odd things from trash cans and making art pieces with them.
When they neared their respective homes they bid each other goodbyes and went their respective ways. Rahul got home and he casually threw his school bag on his bed.
The envelope slid out and he was shocked to discover that it contained over ten thousand rupees. He could not believe his luck. He called his friend Arjun and told him about his amazing discovery.
Arjun advised him not to use the cash that he had found. Rahul decided not to heed his friend's advice. Arjun came over to see for himself the cash that Rahul had found.
He decided that the money was not theirs to keep or use. He reported the matter to Rahul's parents. Rahul's father took the envelope directly to the police station.
At the station, Rahul's dad was told by the officer in charge that a man had accidentally thrown out an envelope containing a huge amout of cash. The man had almost despaired in finding the cash. He had promised to give half of the money to anyone who returned the envelope back to him.
Arjun received the good news with jubilation and thus Arjun got reward for his honesty. Rahul was dismayed by his friend's action.
