Develop nations have a much lower percentage of ‘dependent’ population whereas in a country like India it is high. What are the reasons behind this?

Because unemployment is less in developed countries and due to more unemployment than that nations, leads to poverty and again it leads to increase people beloe poverty line. So developing countries like India the % of dependent population is high.
