One day, on a stormy night a traveller was going to the railway station. He kept stopping in the middle of the road to search for a rickshaw. There was not a single soul in sight. So he kept moving forwards without stopping. When he was passing by a clump of trees on the way to the station, he heard a noise. He looked towards the trees and saw nothing except the trees swaying wildly in the rain. He kept moving forward but started feeling uneasy, as if he was being watched. He turned around and saw a fox near the trees. He laughed at himself for being scared of a small animal. He continued but could not shake off the feeling of a person watching him. For the last time, he turned and saw a person dragging his feet and coming towards him limpidly. The traveller thought that the stranger was hurt and stopped for the strange man to catch up. When he came closer he asked the stranger what was wrong? The stranger pointed towards his feet. The traveller pulled his gaze down to his feet and saw that they were turned towards the back. He got scared and started running towards his destination. Suddenly he saw someone coming towards him on a cycle. He felt relieved that he was not alone. To warn the person on the cycle about the very strange man, he stopped the person and told him about the stranger. The person on the cycle then said : "Was his feet something like this?" and showed his own feet. When the traveller saw that the man's own feet were turned he got so scared he fainted. When he woke up he saw that he was in a strange hut. He went outside and saw he was in the house of a villager close to the railway station. When the villager saw that the traveller had woken up he told the traveller that when he was passing down the road in the morning, he saw that the traveller was passed out cold on the middle of the road. He brought him back to his house. Now that the traveller had woken up, the villager asked him what had happened. The traveller told him everything. When he finished the villager told him that when night falls no one dares to venture out on the road. People had heard stories about the men with twisted feet and were scared. He then told the traveller to never step out on the road at nights at any cost. The traveller thanked him for his friendliness and then set off for the railway station.
Whatever happens he would never forget this experience. He had never been more scared in his entire life.
