Development of an embryo from a cell of embryo sac other than egg is an example of Apogamy.

Explanation:

  • In this process there is formation of sporophyte. However there is no formation of gametophyte.
  • Embryo sac is present inside the stamen of the plants.
  • The embryo sac is made up a few structures, they are Antipodal cells, the Synergids, a couple of Egg cell, a single large Polar nuclei.
  • The Synergids is a very sensitive structure. They are protected with the embryo sac which by cellular thickening which are always present at the micropylar region known as the filiform apparatus.
  • They help the pollen grains to enter the stigma.
