  • Varahamihira also wrote 4 more works on astrology, in addition to sections on astrology in Brihat Samhita, which cover, favourable records on kings ' expeditions, time of birth of a person, auspicious muhurtas for marriage and its effect upon his future. As a great physician, Nagarjuna has been mentioned as a famous chemist during the Gupta period. A silent witness to the striking metallurgical abilities of the Hindus is the prominent Iron Pillar close to the Qutub-Minar. Despite the exposure to rain and sun for the last 1500 years, this pillar has not been corroded or rusted. The medical application of mercury and iron demonstrates that chemistry must be studied.
