Hello Mate,

Devanagari, also called Nagari, is an abugida used in India and Nepal. It is written from left to right, has a strong preference for symmetrical rounded shapes within squared outlines, and is recognisable by a horizontal line that runs along the top of full letters.

The Devanagari Script (देवनागरी लिपि) is the most impressive writing system that I have ever studied. It impresses me for many reasons, for instance:

The ordering of the letters is according to precise scientific principles.

Each letter transcribes a distinct sound.

It recognizes subtle distinctions in sound.
Hindu scriptures are written inDevanagari, a fact illustrated by the etymology of the name. "Devanagari" is a compound word with two roots: deva means "deity", and nagari means "city". Together it implies a script that is both religious as well as urbane or sophisticated.

Hope this helps you
