Given:

  • DF and BE are heights on sides AB and AD respectively of parallelogram ABCD. If the area of parallelogram is 1470 sq. cm, AB = 35 cm and AD = 49 cm,

To Find:

  • Find the lengths of BE and DF.

DIAGRAM : Attached

Required Solution:

Area of parallelogram = 1470 sq.cm

Base = AB

Area = base × altitude

Hence, 1470 = AB × DF

➟ 1470 = 35 × DF

➟ DF = 1470/35 = 42cm

Now, taking AD as the base,

Area = 1470 sq.cm, base = AD = 49cm

Area = base × altitude

➟ 1470 = 49 × BE

➟ BE = 1470/49 = 30cm

  • Hence, BE = 30cm and DF = 42cm
