______________________

Speed₁ = 40 km/h

Time₁ = 2 hrs

Distance = speed * time

= 40*2 = 80 km

______________________

Speed₂ = 60 km/h

Time₂ = 2 hours

Distance = speed * time

= 60*2 = 120 km

______________________

• Total distance travelled by Dhruv = 120 km + 80 km

                                                          = 200 km

• Total time taken by Dhruv = 2hrs + 2 hrs

                                              = 4 hrs

______________________

We know,

\displaystyle{\textsf{The average speed of the journey =} \sf{ \frac{Total\ distance\ covered}{Total\ time\ taken} }}

⇒ Average speed of the journey = 200/4

⇒ Average speed of the journey = 50 km/h
