One of my friends called me today and he was almost shouting with the harshest tone and abusing the government and the leaders. He was extremely angry over the decision of extending the lockdown for the fourth time. We may go soon for the fifth version of lockdown after listening to him for quite a while, I found that he was upset over the uncertainties and has a fear for his life on one hand while on the other, he was feeling bad for his freedom over social isolation, especially in absence of his office colleagues and friends.

He made a statement that he has been in lock up as if he has committed a crime, I quietly clarified that lock up and lockdown are two different things. Lock up are normally in police stations where offenders and criminal are kept, locked from outside, kept away from family and friends in isolation and their basic police whereas, in lockdown, one must physically distance himself away from others apart from living with his or her family

The second question posed by him was on the uncertainty about life, unfounded fear of death, and anxieties about the future. After a little effort in a counselling tone, I convinced him that the present situation has not been created by me, you or anyone else, it is not in our control and we should not feel guilty towards things which are not in our control.

I spent a considerable amount of time listening to him, he agreed with me on a few things in between our conversation. He questioned I do not have anything to do these days, which is frustrating. I told him that it’s simply because you do not want to do anything so you have nothing to do. There is a lot of pending work at home – writing diaries, copying addresses and contact numbers, taking care of hobbies to play with children, arranging photo albums, cooking, gardening, talking to lost friends, and it’s an endless list. You are afraid of doing work so you are avoiding. Above all, you have to care for yourself and your family members so spend the time by doing physical This is the perfect time for remembering good memories of past with family members in person and with friends on phone; creating happier, pleasant and satisfying situations in the present, and planning for future dreams and doable actions.

Lockdown period is one such compulsion. Let us take this time for self-exploration, building relationships within the family, and in social connectedness, so stay home, stay safe, and stay connected. Now I am waiting for his next call with other reactions

Characters : Sameera and Shilpa

Starting : (Both on phone calls)

Sameera : Hey Shilpa, how are you doing?

Shilpa : Hey Sameera! Nice to hear you, after a long period of time. I am doing good, but, actually I am somewhere out so I'll talk to you later.

Sameera : Okay!

Middle : (After 1 hour Shilpa calls back)

Shilpa : Hey Sameera! I am back...

Sameera : Oh Hello! So, before when we were talking I wanted to ask you either that can we talk about our lockdown period?

Shilpa : Of course! Why not

Sameera : It was a very light year for because I was neither sad that we had lockdown or happy that we have a whole year vacation that no schools! But, instead the online classes weren't that good as I thought it would be.

Shilpa : Yeah same happened with me to! No one was there to play, ride bicycles, play badminton, read books in library etc. everyone was home sitting back relaxing and chilling easily after the CORONA's fear was gone.

Sameera : In my opinion lockdown wasn't as nice to be. Every child in lockdown got in chilled mood they didn't wanna walk, run, swim neither they wanted to talk just, all time playing in phones.

Shilpa : Yeah! My brother too was whole the time like this only. Every-time I asked him to play he said that go away from me CORONA is there maintain social distancing and played 24 hours straight in the phone.

Sameera : Yeah Shilpa! This lockdown really effected many people by there jobs, schooling, practicing gyms etc. I was greatly effected too because I wasn't able to meet anyone or talk too.

Shilpa : Yeah but, as the lockdown is getting over people started with there work. I am happy that life's are coming to normal.

Sameera : Truly said.. So let's make this topic end and will we talk tomorrow.

Shilpa : Okay as you wish.. Bye

Sameera : Bye
