Diagram based questions Observe Fig. A and answer the following questions: h - 5 m, 'x' - 2 m, assume g = 10 m/s2 If a ball weighing 2 kg is falling from point A to point C on the ground, calculate the following: 1. Amount of energy at point A. What type of energy is it? Potebol 2. If the balls falls down from point A, what is its potential energy and kinetic energy at point B based on the law of conservation of energy. 3. What is the approximate velocity of the ball at point B? 4. What is the potential and kinetic energy at point C, just before the ball hits the ground. Also what is the velocity of the ball? Answer:

When ball is at rest it will only have Potential Energy that is,

P.E=mgh

m= 2 kg;h=5 m

P.E=2×10×5=100J

This is the total energy as K.E is zero when the ball is at maximum height that is when it is at 5 m. Hence when the ball reaches the ground P.E becomes zero because of zero height.At this point,the total energy is equal to the K.E that is K.E=100J.
