Regular reflection : When a parallel beam of light is incident on a plane and highly polished surface, the whole light falling on the surface is reflected in a definite direction. such a reflection is called regular reflection.
Irregular reflection : When a parallel beam of light is incident on a rough or irregular surface such as a wall or a piece of wood, the rays get reflected in all directions and the reflected light spreads over a wide area. Such a reflection is called irregular reflection or diffused reflection. It is this type of reflection that enables us to see various objects around us.
