Answer:

When carbon dioxide is passed through lime water, calcium carbonate, is formed which makes lime water milky.

Take one spoon of vinegar in the test tube and add a pinch of baking soda, the reaction takes place, carbon dioxide gas evolves making bubbles.

This gas is passed through freshly prepared lime water. It turns milky. (The turning of lime water into milky is a standard test of Carbon dioxide.)

The above chemical reaction is represented as:

1. Vinegar + baking soda → Carbon dioxide + other things

Acetic acid + Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate → Carbon dioxide + other things

2. Carbon dioxide + lime water → Milky solution
