Dad: This new tax called GST has created a sensation. Everything has become quite expensive for the common man. I really think it is quite a bane.

Me: Dad, I agree that the price of most things have become more than affordable. However, I feel that there is one advantage of introducing the tax.

Dad: What do you mean son? How can it be beneficial?

Me: It will help to put a check on people spending unnecessarily. This can help them make a saving. Today, many people buy things just to keep up with their peers and not because they actually want them.

Dad: Hmmm, I see what you are trying to say. But sadly, it is even others who struggle to make a saving who are affected.

Son: Father what is this so much buzz about GST all around?

Father: Well, son it is the latest financial reform introduced by the finance ministry in bringing more transparency in revenue collection!

Son: If it is a reform why are there people reacting differently to its implementation?

Father: Son people react to a reform or situation according to their perspectives. People who are reacting positively to it feel it will prevent corruption; whereas people who are opposing it feel it will restrict their freedom to do clandestine transactions.

Son: Father what is your take on it?

Father: Technically, GST is good for all. It will help the nation to achieve its economical and developmental goals faster. There are many advanced countries in the world where GST is used.

Son: Then why are some people speaking against it?

Father: Well, son it is because of their own vested interests. However, GST will require regular modifications and improvements to customize it according to the Indian economy.

Son: Thanks father for clearing my doubts.
