dialogue between friends on burning of effigy
Answers
Friend A: Het, did you go to see Dussehra celebrations’ final day?
Friend B: Yes, I did. There was lots of rush and chaos.
Friend A: Did you enjoy the celebrations?
Friend B: to be honest, I did not. There was so much crowd; it appeared as if I would choke out of lack of fresh air.
Friend A: I had a similar feeling and I rushed out of the melee; I heaved a sigh of relief after reaching home only.
Friend B: I strongly feel we need to change our method of celebrating our festivals now; the environment has become so polluted that if we celebrate these festivals in the traditional manner, soon the environment will become worse.
Friend A: I agree with you; for example thousands of effigies are burnt on Dussehra eve, which causes immense pollution. This worsening environment is not good for health.
Friend B: People should become wiser; anything that pollutes the environment should be stopped. The Government should also look into the matter and make some new laws.
Friend 1: Hi! When did you get home yesterday? The traffic was heavy.
Friend 2: Hi! Yeah! I got home very late. It usually takes 30 minutes but yesterday it took me almost an hour. There were celebrations for dussehra.
Friend 1: Yes. The roads were filled with smoke. The people were burning effigies. It was suffocating.
Friend 2: Not only that! But also the bursting of crackers. The people are still not aware of the alarming rate with which we are polluting the environment,
Friend 1: Yes! Our environment is polluted. There is no clean air that we can breathe nor clean water to drink.
Friend 2: The emissions from burning effigies and crackers contain harmful gases. They are harmful for the environment and human beings as well. The people should be educated about this.
Friend 1: This is not a good sight. This will result in many health problems. The people should be aware.
Friend 2: The government should take actions in order to reduce the pollution. They should create awareness to the people about the current pollution rate and the consequences of burning effigies and crackers.
Friend 1: I hope our city gets better. Let's just not do anything harmful for the environment.
Friend 2: Yeah! We should be the initiative.
