Answer:

Mother: Have you started reading the articles which I sent you, yet?

Daughter: Not yet mother. Why do you ask?

Mother: There is going to be a young leadership essay competition in which teenagers have to write on the topic of hard work and patience. And how such an approach can lead to solving all problems.

Daughter: Well, then I will read all the articles which you sent me. However, lets discuss first.

Mother: First jot down the necessary points using your existing knowledge.

Daughter: Okay. I think that hard work and patience are two very important aspects. Lets look at the first one. Hard work is something which leads to gaining experience in all fields of life. Hard work is the key through which we can achieve anything. It leads us to valuing the cost of achieving something. The journey teaches us many things as well. For example, would I cherish a win which I got without doing anything or would I value it more had I known the costs and hard work behind it all.

Mother: Definitely I agree. I like this approach. Why don't you narrow down the points.

Daughter: Next is the concept of patience. Patience is one of those characteristic traits which leads to avoiding many unnecessary fights. For instance if there are two parties indulging in a conflict, if one keeps calm, the fight may be resolved. Any problem in the world can be tackled. For instance, War among two countries may be handled by keeping calm and being patient.

Mother: Great thinking. Now get to reading the articles which I sent you.

Daughter (Shreya):  Hi Mom!

Mother: Hi Shreya! Back from school dear? How was your day at school?

Shreya:  Mom, I have some good and bad news. But first, give me some of those  hot samosas.

Mother:  Here dear, go on tell me.

Shreya: Mom, I lost the dance competition today. I only got sixth place and  the good news is that I scored 100 in Math.

Mother: Oh! that’s great news. You really worked so hard on your Maths and it  has yielded results and as for your dance, I told you, that you needed  more practice and hard work.

Shreya: Yes Mom, you did.

Mother: Shreya, you have to keep this in mind. Whatever, you do, you need to have patience and strive hard, only then can you reap the results. This is true not only in studies or sports but also in solving world problems. Nothing can be achieved in a day.

See, take the Kashmir problem. So much of hard work has gone in, and the enormous patience of the people. All this has borne fruit now and the Kashmir problem has been solved by the Modi Government. So, remember that hard work and patience always pays.

Shreya: Yes Mom. Will remember. Off I go now.
