Son: Mummy, why do I have to respect elders?

Mother: Because that is part of our culture.

Son: I don't understand.

Mother: Well, our's is an old civilization. In fact it is one of the oldest in the world. Some things have always been followed by us, and respecting elders is one such thing.

Son: So you want me to respect elders just because we have always done that?

Mother: No, I want you to understand why we have always done that. Remember when you had a really bad cough?

Son: Yes, Mummy. It was awful. I couldn't sleep, but you fixed the problem.

Mother: And what did I do?

Son: You rubbed some warm ghee on my neck. That's all.

Mother: And did it bring you relief?

Son: Yes, almost immediately. But how did you know the trick?

Mother: Well, the elders in our family taught me that.

Son: Ah! Now I understand why we need to respect the elders.

Mother: Tell me why.

Son: Because they have a lot of experience and have seen life and often know better than us and can guide us and make our lives better.

Mother: There you go- you answered your own question!

Explanation:

Mother : John, yesterday i saw that you didnt listen to grandma

Son : Mother when did this happen?

Mother : John, when she asked you to stop jumping on her bed

Son : Mom, it was fun jumping on the bed.

Mother : John, this is extremely bad. You must listen to elders, not only they have experience but they also wish the best for you. And ethically this is also wrong not to listen elders
