An NSS  coordinator and a student were having a conversation. The student wanted to know about NSS during the orientation program . The dialogue that ensued was as follows:

Student (S) : Good morning, Sir. May I ask you a question?

Coordinator (C) : Good morning. Please do.

S: What does NSS mean?

C: NSS stands for The National Service Scheme. It is a public service programme sponsored by the Indian government. The programme is conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India.

S: What is the function of NSS?

C:  NSS has several functions.  It mostly indulges in social service activities. During times of disasters it caters to disaster management.

S: This sounds very interesting Sir.

C: Not only that you will be given police and army like training. You will be honoured as a cadet.

S: I would love to join Sir.

C: You are most welcome. We would love to have more interested students like you.

S: Please give me the form then.  Let me complete the formalities.

C: You can take the form but bring the form duly signed by your guardian tomorrow at the office.

S: Definitely Sir. I will come tomorrow.
