Dialogue on advantages and disadvantages of internet between two friends.

Explanation:

A: You know I am hugely appreciative of the internet. Without it, I wonder what my life would be like.

B: Yeah, that is true. We would never be able to know or do our work without it.

A: And just imagine how much of the works were made simpler and easier just by the internet. We are also able to stay connected with our friends no matter how far they are.

B: Yes, that's true. But there was a time when there was no internet yet people still lived. In fact, I think I dislike this internet sometimes.

A: What made you say that?

B: Because there are certain things that are no longer done. Like for instance, there is no socializing except for online virtual socializing. And whenever you see a group of people, they are all busy on their phones, no one tries to initiate a real, live, and normal conversation.

A: I know right. I've seen so many people, especially on trains and buses, just busy with their own phone screens. No one seems to be living in the real world even when they are all so active in the virtual world.

B: Not only that but the addiction to the social internet world has also become so real. Even small kids no longer play outside, let alone exercise. They are all cooped up in their own worlds. Children no longer even know what it was to live without cell phones. It's as if the world has been full of cellphones all along.

A: Exactly. When we were kids, we did not even know about cell phones. We hardly even see the television. For entertainment, we would run out in the mud, rains and the trees and hang around with our friends, come back all sweaty and tired and dirty. And our toys were blocks of wood and used tires and other scrappy metals.

B: I wonder if we will ever be given the chance to remember those moments again. Considering how fast the world is changing, there is no denying that the old, "primitive" world of our childhood may be a thing of the past and even forgotten. Kids these days will only remember phones and YouTube and Facebook.

A: Yes. Now that we've talked about it, I have come to the realization that this internet may have been a curse for us, that is, as long as we let it rule us.

B: Looking at the present situation, it seems like we are the slaves to the internet which shouldn't be the case. They are supposed to relieve and help us out, not overtake us.

A: I think we need to spread awareness to the younger people about the harms of excessive internet use. Maybe we can do that?

B: That's a great idea. We can always try out new things. I hope we can manage to get at least some people to listen to us.

A: Well, we can try and see for ourselves.

B: yes, let's do that.
