You can either use the following conversation or develop your own taking ideas from it:
Friend A: Hey what according to you is more important—hard work or luck in order to be successful?
Friend B: I think it is the hard work!
Friend A: How can you be so sure? I know many people who don’t work hard at all; yet they are successful!
Friend B: Well, first of all you need to know what being successful is. Mere wealth does not mean being successful, does it? if being wealthy meant being successful, then all the sons and daughters of wealthy people would be considered successful, wouldn’t they?
Friend A: Then what does being successful mean?
Friend B: Being successful means being master of one or more skills and then being in demand for that skill. Being successful means being healthy, happy, creative, innovative, and be of use to the world. Gary Player says, “The harder you work, the luckier you get.” It is hundred percent true that there is no substitute for hard work. Comparing the two entities is a fallacy. Hard work is the first prerequisite to have luck.
Friend A: This sounds quite interesting. Tell me more about it.
Friend B: A majority of people think luck is more important. Hence, all the problems arise. Lady luck is very loyal to its commitment to hard work. You cannot woo her without hard work. It has been seen people generally set out on the journey to success depending upon luck alone, which is a sheer folly! They end up disappointed and unsuccessful!
Friend A: Oh! I see. I think I also belong to the majority!
Friend B: On the other hand there is a class of men and women, who inspired and intrigued by hard work just take up hard work as their modus operandi to success. Though they sweat and slog along, just a little farther on the way they realize the blessedness of being industrious. Hard work appears to be drudgery, but in reality it is sheer blessedness! All the great personages of all times in all climes have been men and women who worked hard perseveringly and doggedly.
Friend A: Oh my God! I also avoid hard work. That’s why I have not achieved much in life!
Friend B: All great achievers of mankind such as Newton, Leonardo Da Vinci, Lincoln, Einstein, Addison, Mahatama Gandhi, Dr. Kalam, etc. worked very patiently and perseveringly in their chosen fields. Success was a blessing in response to their dedication to their work.
Friend A: I got your point. Thanks for explaining me the value of hard work.
Friend B: So in order to achieve success, woo the lady luck through HARD WORK. Depend on HARD WORK, do the WORK passionately, and the lady luck will smile on you!
Friend a: Sure I will!
