Explanation:

“This is absolutely ridiculous. How did I manage to get myself into this situation? I never meant to make him fall in love with me. Certainly I had never even dreamed that I would end up falling for him. And now just look at the mess we’re in!”

“Calm yourself, sister. How can this irritate you so? You are both in love, you should rejoice.”

“I am annoyed because we are not meant to be together! We shouldn’t have even spoken to each other, let alone, to enter a courtship! Oh, think of how’ll we’ll look! We’ll be the laughing stock of the entire town!”

“Sister! Listen to what you are saying! Do you not realize what foolishness you are speaking? It is an entirely respectable courtship. He comes from a respectable family, yes, one indeed related to the royal family! What is it that would make people disdain you, let alone laugh at you?”

“Don’t you see?! We are much poorer, and our family line is not nearly so rich as his. His family will hate us and our poor backgrounds, and though certainly no one in my family would turn there nose to the arrangement, the town would, saying such as ‘She is of a lower status, he could do much better,’ and ‘They are not meant to be, she has not the same backgrounds as he,’ you see? We are not meant to be!”

A short pause, and then the conversation continued.

“Relax yourself. You are much too tense. You forget that our background is just as respectable as his. We are related to the general, did you happen to forget?”

“What is a general to a king?!”

“Sister! The arrangement is fine. As for his family, it will be decided when we meet. For now, let us rejoice and be merry, for you are in love. Tonight, we shall have a ball, and invite everyone in the neighborhood. We will make merry and enjoy the company, and you will dance all night with your love. Now come and let us dress, for your hair is not yet arranged.”
