TV: Hello!
Radio: Hello! How is your day going?
TV: I have been extremely busy today. I was up and working at 5 in the morning and did not get a break for the next 5 hours.
Radio: Goodness! That is indeed a lot of hard work. What kept you busy?
TV: Let’s see… First Grandma wanted to watch the early morning yoga programme.
Radio: But that goes on only for an hour. What about after that?
TV: The children woke up and fought over the channels. They gave me a headache. Finally they decided on a music channel, and then left me working alone.
Radio: What a waste of electricity!
TV: Yes. Anyway, what about you?
Radio: I have had a busy day too, but in a nicer way.
TV: How exactly?
Radio: Grandpa wanted to listen to some hymns, so I went to the terrace with him. It was a beautiful feeling- the lovely music under the morning sky.
TV: That is indeed lovely! I don’t think I will ever get to the terrace all my life. In fact I don’t think I will even get to see the world outside this room.
Radio: Maybe if you pretend to be ill, they will take you to the repair guy.
TV: Oh no! The TV mechanic has very dirty hands. He smudges my screen each time he comes by. Only the sweet maids take care of me. They wipe the dust off my face each day. When they are on leave, no one bothers to freshen me up.
Radio: I think I am luckier than you. Ten year old Manu takes care of me. Grandpa taught him to handle me with care and to clean me up everyday.
TV: That child is gentle. He knows how to handle electronics.
Radio: I love to play his favourite classic hits. The others don’t have the time to listen to me. They are all in a maddening rush.. I am so glad I am not a human being.
TV: True, but I would still like to move around and see the world.
Radio: Well, you can see the world through your screen. In fact, I enjoy watching you too! I think I need to thank you for that!
TV: And I need to thank you for your company! You are such a positive influence on me. You just made me feel better.
