Think back to see how many coffees I’ve had already that day.
Wonder if it’s overcaffeination or I’m actually still asleep.
Wonder who would have spiked my coffee with LSD without even mentioning it. Not cool to do that in unfamiliar environments.

…while casually checking the back of my head for unusual lumps, trying to remember if I had slipped and bonked my head recently.
Look around to see what other people are doing. If they’re ignoring the fact there’s a lion OUTSIDE the pen and talking to someone, then it’s a good bet I’m hallucinating. If, on the other hand, they’ve all got their phones out and recording, then that’s a whole different story.
Consider the possibility that I’m chatting with an actor in a really, really good costume. Or maybe it’s all fully animatronics. Either way, I’m impressed and want to know how it’s built (I’ve built puppets professionally before).
Wonder if I’m imagining the talking lion completely - there’s really nothing there, it’s all in my head - or overlaying the image of a lion on, say, a dude with a light brown beard and shaggy hair in a tan leisure suit.
Nod and respond appropriately to his points. (It could be just a dude, after all.) Since it’s unlikely to be a deep, philosophical discussion about life, the universe and everything (I already know what that answer is), he’s probably just talking about the condition of the lions on the other side of the fence, etc..
At an appropriate time, acknowledge the interesting chat, shake his paw and make my way onwards. I would get myself off to the nearest clinic right away to get checked up for possible sun stroke, drug tested and/or examined for signs of concussion.
I might also apologize for basically staring at his stomach/chest area during our entire conversation since that’s the approximate height a lion’s head would be.
Write it all down ASAP so I don’t forget the details.
Take a vacation.
