Step-by-step explanation:

radius = 1/2 x diameter

= 1/2 x 26

= 13 cm

length of the chord = 24 cm

we know that perpendicular drawn from the centre of the circle to the chord bisects the chord.

half of length of the chord ( QP ) = 12 cm

radius of the circle ( OQ ) = 13cm

by applying Pythagoras theorem.

OQ2 = OP2 + PQ2

i.e

OQ2 - PQ2 = OP2 ( Distance of chord from center)

13² - 12square = op2

169 - 144 = op2

25 = op2

ie. op = 5 ( after taking square root)

the distance of chord is 5cm from the centre.
