Diameter of the circular garden is 42m. There is a 3.5m wide road around the garden. Find the area of the road.

let

the smaller radius of circular garden is (r1)

r=42/2

r=21m

and the larger radius of garden is (r2)

R=r+3.5

R=21+3.5

R=24.5

ATQ

area of the road =

\pi {r2}^{2}  - \pi {r1}^{2}  \\  = \pi( {24.5}^{2}  -  {21}^{2} )  \\  = \pi(600.25 - 441) \\  = \pi(159.25) \\  =  \frac{22}{7}   \times 159.25 \\  = 22 \times 22.75 \\  = 500.5 {m}^{2}
