Given : Dianne is asked to check if we can replace × by -3 or 6 in the rational  (×+3)/  (×-6)

To find : Can be x be replaced by - 3  or 6

Solution:

Rational number  p/q

Where p , q are integers and  q ≠ 0

Given Rational number

(x + 3)/(x - 6)

p = x + 3

q = x - 6

if Dianne replace x by - 3

then p = -3 + 3 = 0    an integer

q = -3 - 6  = - 9  an integer

Hence its a rational number

if Dianne replace x by 6

then p = -6 + 3 = 9    an integer

q = 6 - 6  = 0   but q ≠ 0

Hence Dianne  can not replace x by 6

x can be replaced by - 3

But x can not be replaced by 6
