Dear Diary,
Early morning, when I went for my usual morning walk, I saw a group of people huddling around in one corner of the road. It was near the drains and i was curious as to why they are doing there. I thought that they may be just a group of friends talking. When I approached them, I was told that a newborn baby has been found in a plastic bag near the drains. The baby was a girl, which makes it so obvious that maybe the mother didn't want her because of the belief that "a girl child is a burden to the family'.
It was so pitiful to see the baby girl crying in that cold, but luckily for her, a jogger found her in time. Later on, some policemen came and took the baby to the nearby hospital. I hope she survives and become a strong woman. Our society still needs to learn the importance of life, irrespective of the sex of the baby.
This whole incident left me thinking of numerous things, why it is important to spread awareness of the preciousness of life and how the stigma of female child can be removed completely in the mindset of the people. It is a hope that we will all one day be able to realize the importance of life.
