Diary entry about helplessness of a girl child as a girl of middle class family

Dear Diary:
I am very sad today! I have been feeling this discrimination between boys and girls for a long time. Not a day goes without making me feel this discrimination. Why is it so girls are considered inferior to boys? Why don’t they enjoy equal freedom to boys? My brother is allowed to go out even after dark; but I am not allowed to go out even during the bright sunlight! The truth is I work harder than him. Nobody praises me much even for my brilliance in academics. His moderate achievements become the talk of the family! Why is it that I have to lend a helping hand to my mother in the kitchen and other chores? Why does my mother not ask him to share the household responsibility? Though I am younger than him, still I do more work than him! My parents appear to be worried about my wedding! I want to study and want to become a successful scientist. When I share it with my parents they just downplay it. Why am I made to feel as if I am helpless? The truth is I am not. I am very strong and capable.
