Explanation:

Today we had a discussion in school. The teacher asked us whether any of us lived in a joint family. It was only after the discussions in class that I realized how blessed I was to be a member of joint family.

I have always taken my family for granted: My great grandparents, my grandparents, my uncles, aunts, and a whole host of cousins, not to mention the continuous stream of relatives coming from our native village. Every day is a celebration in itself.

There is never a time when I have to come back to an empty home after school. Thank God for that. Rita was narrating how she hates to go home from school. Her parents are working and they come home only by eight. She re-heats whatever food is available and eats it.

And here, my cousins and I come home to gorge on lip-smacking delicacies every single day with tales from my aunts on the making of the dish.

There is never a time when I am in a bad mood over the day's happening. All of us are there to cheer each other, and pulling each one's legs.

We have elders as our solid support system. They are always there to guide us.

There is always a birthday celebration, a wedding, or a celebration of a newborn.

I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful joint family in today's materialistic world.
