Dear Diary

Today we celebrated Makar Sankranti.

Makara Sankranti is a winter harvest festival celebrated throughout India. It is an important Hindu festival which is celebrated as a thanksgiving ceremony for the year's harvest. It is dedicated to the Sun.

My father cut the sugarcane and distributed its pieces to everyone. My mother cooked new rice. She boiled rice, milk and jaggery.

There was a party in the evening. All our relatives and friends came to meet us. There were a lot of traditional dishes which we all enjoyed. We had a lot of fun. New clothes and gifts were given to everyone.
