Dear Diary,

Today my brother got married. Yes, it was a day wedding and nothing like the wedding we had imagined. All us cousins had plans of getting together and dancing into the night. We were all excited about the first wedding of our generation, but the lockdown disrupted all plans. Only the bride’s family and a few others came. Luckily, the bride lives two houses down our street. Still we needed permission from the authorities, for the wedding. Though 50 people can be present at a wedding, we kept the numbers limited to 25. Since we were not going to hire caterers from outside, our maid was going to handle all the cooking. She did a very fine job indeed, with help from us, of course. The priest sat wearing a mask and chanted the mantras. We broadcast the wedding through GoogleMeet. That is the best we could do. The most wonderful part was that everyone- those invited and those purposely not invited, understood the complexity of the situation and did not hold any grudges. In fact, some of my aunts insisted on singing wedding songs during the conference video call itself. This is what family is, together even when far apart and I am sure the new bride will love it too! I now have to send pictures from the wedding to everyone.

See you later!

Anita
