Recently, we visited the Lotus Temple or the Bahai House of Worship. The beautiful Lotus shaped Temple was opened in the year 1986, and since then has invited a number of visitors to its premises. Also, similar to all the Bahai Temples, the Lotus Temple is open to people of all faith. The Bahai Temple is amongst the seven Bahai House of Worship in the world. The rest of the six are located in Apia, Western Samoa; Sydney, Australia; Kampala, Uganda; Panama City, Panama; Frankfurt, Germany; Wilmette, USA.

The entry to the temple is through a gate that leads to a pathway with landscaped gardens on both side. We had to take off our shoes and deposit them in the shoe keeping centre. From there, we stood in a queue and waited for our turn. A representative of the Bahai Faith then introduced us to the temple in Hindi as well as English.

Once inside, complete silence and peace took over. We saw people of different religions sitting and praying. The inside hall has nine doors and a capacity to seat 2500 people at one time. We spent quiet sometime there and then came out. It always is a pleasure to spend sometime in such an environment. Outside, we spent sometime near the pool and clicked some pics.

Answer:

The Lotus Temple, located in Delhi, India, is a Baháʼí House of Worship that was dedicated in December 1986.[1] Notable for its flowerlike shape, it has become a prominent attraction in the city. Like all Baháʼí Houses of Worship, the Lotus Temple is open to all, regardless of religion or any other qualification. The building is composed of 27 free-standing marble-clad "petals" arranged in clusters of three to form nine sides,[2] with nine doors opening onto a central hall with a height of slightly over 34 meters[2] and a capacity of 2,500 people.[3] The Lotus Temple has won numerous architectural awards and has been featured in many newspaper and magazine articles.[4] A 2001 CNN report referred to it as the most visited building in the world.[5]General information
