Mesopotamia has number of significant cultural legacies for the Western civilization.  

Mesopotamia culture was synthesis of both Sumerian and Semitic forms.  

These legacies was various legal codes made by succession of Mesopotamian rulers.  

Most notably between these rulers was Hammurabi who is a Babylonian ruler having various legal codes, guidelines and precedents compiled.
