Ali didn't actually came there it was his soul that came to meet the postmaster. At that time Ali was already dead.

no ali have have not been come there it was his soul as postmaster is now able to understand the feelings of ali. so he was feeling to guilty and wish to give his letter and to say sorry for his behaviour with him
