Did an Indians groups try to force out the British? How did the Britishers expanded their territory in India .

The British expanded their territories in India in the following ways;


(i) Established trading posts.


(ii) Influenced local rulers.


(iii) Enforced indirect rule.


(iv) Annexed states under the Doctrine of Lapse.


(v) Fought wars with local kings.


(vi) Established British system of government.


The Indian groups had never been in favour of British governance however the British had been more economically, administratively and politically powerful than local Indians. They had been struggling to force the British out of India which became successful by the collective Nationalist Movement.

In general, Britain was able to dominate the Indian sub-continent; even it also includes modern-day India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh and many others from the mid-eighteenth century.


Apart from that, British were able to effectively rule the sub-continent for two centuries with relatively little opposition as well as unrest.
