Indus Civilization was an old civilization of the valleys of Nile and Tigris.
For thousands of years this civilization was lying buried deep under earth.
Modern men had no idea of it.
People believed that civilization in India started with Aryans but before them there lived the primitives.
In 1922 however a great exploration took place and further it carried the Indian civilization far back.
It was confirmed that India had a civilization long before the Aryans came.
Credit of this invention goes to two famous scholars i.e. Rakhal Das Banerjee and Dayaram Sahni.
Archaeological findings in the Punjab and Sind they dug out remains of two ancient cities.
One was Harappa situated in the Montgomery district of Punjab on the bank of the river Ravi and other was Mahenjodaro situated in the Larkana district of Sind on the bank of the river Indus.
Mahenjodaro means ‘Mound of the dead’.
