Answer:

No, Shah Jahan did not cut the hands of the labourers. Its all a hoax fabricated by someone , probably to emphasize the immensity of Shah Jahan's love for his wife,Mumtaz Mahal.

The reason provided after this so called fable ,is that Shah Jahan did not want someone else to build a similar structure? But is it possible? A structure is not only built by the workers. Someone is required to commission them. And theo one who commissions them, must have a huge resource base, like an emperor. And during the seventeenth century, Shah Jahan was one of the richest man of the world, and the Mughal Empire, one of the mightiest. So hiw could someone else commission a Taj Mahal?

So,if one looks into the dynamics of economics and history, the said point is negated and disproved that Shah Jahan, the mighty emperor, did such an insane thing
