Answer:

ok Did the Hindu and Muslim Kalam know in childhood live in harmony with each other?

I come from the same place as A.P.J Kalam did :-

The greatest irony is that even during partition days when north India was burning, I asked my grandfather (who was senior to Kalam in school) -later become a pleader.

1.) When the north Indian was burning, my grandfather and a rich tamil Muslim relative (Yes relative) - were preparing a briyani by cutting 50 goats and feeding the whole neighborhood.

2.) Briyani was a new dish, and grandfather has to bring a costly cook from Hyderabad state, to prepare this dish, he booked a whole compartment for cook and his team.

3.) All families in village got together and celebrated this feast, same time North India was burning like hell, European journalist who visited north said even holocaust was nothing compared to northern partition riots.

4.) But south remained peaceful, cutting goats and celebrating feasts, muslim relatives - we come from a rich caste in South India, we were famous for sea-farers, pleaders, lawyers … many of our caste members visited south-east Asia, and earned lots & lots of money, many houses even furniture in our native are built with Burma teak wood.

5.) many such relatives did convert to islam, not because they were forced, but they found it more appealing, as in Hindu system inspite of their riches, and higher education they will still called Sath-Sudra.

6.) there was a caste issue ( kala-pani) where you need to perform a very costly puja ( donate cow, equal weight of gold/Silver, rice & sugar to a bramin priest) - every time you comeback from a business deal ( nearly half of profit went for this useless puja)

7.) As then vedic brahmin priests in TN, tried to milk all the money out my fellow rich relatives, and rich Sudra's found them exploited to the core and drained dry,

They found changing religion brought them better recognition in society, better financial management. and so..on

8.) Even now I call my muslim relatives, as Chitti, Chitappa (Father’s sister, uncle), they consider me as their child, so in-this environment produced a prefect gentleman, great leader, brilliant scientist like A.P.J Kalam,

According to Sujatha ( Who was a classmate of Kalam in College, St Joseph & MIT)

Kalam is a superior mixture of All the best virtues & goodness of Islam + scientific temper of Tamil’s + liberalness of Tamil political philosophy.
