Did the poet in the poem 'snake' listen to the voice of his education?

Yes the poet did listened to his voice of education. That is why even though his inner self liked the Snake and had respect for it, hospitality for it just like a guest, he at the end threw a log of wood to kill it. His voice of education says that golden snakes are venomous and must best killed no matter what. Killing it was a sign of courage.So without having a second thought he tried to kill it while it was already retreating. It was after he committed this that he realized what a grievous act he did.
