did we have a sphincter in any other part of the digestive canal? where was it?
Answers
The major organs that make up the segments of the digestive system are divided neatly into their divisions by six sphincter muscles. The mouth is separated from the esophagus by the upper esophageal sphincter. The division between the esophagus and the stomach is the cardiac sphincter, or lower esophageal sphincter. Dividing the lower stomach from the small intestine is the pyloric sphincter. Between the small intestine and colon is the ileocecal sphincter. The exit from the body at the anus is actually two different sphincters the internal anal sphincter, and the external anal sphincter
1- Upper Esophageal Sphincter
Between pharynx and esophagus
2- Lower Esophageal/ Cardiac
Between esophagus and stomache
3- Pyloric
Between stomache and duodenum
4- Ileocecal
Between small intestine and cecum
5- Internal anal
6- External anal
