Subject: Unsatisfactory Enrolment of Girls

Dear Sir

The constitution of India has provided the Right to Education to every child between the age group six to fourteen. A number of schemes have been introduced and incentives provided to better the condition of girls' enrollment at primary and upper primary levels. Yet, the situation at present is dismal. The number of girls' enrollment, as compared to boys' enrollment is not satisfactory and gender parity in enrollment of girls has remained a far-fetched goal.

The reasons for it may be taboos and stereotypes associated with the girl child. A large part of the population still lives in ignorance and prejudices that force a girl child to confine to the four walls of their house. The government has introduced many programs and policies, various NGOs are doing their bit to improve the condition, but the mindset of people has not changed much even after seventy years of our independence. The only solution lies in bringing awareness and working at war footing to awaken the masses and change their outlook towards gender roles.

I would conclude with a request to the reader to work at war footing to bring about the change in our society as girls' education holds key importance in progress of a nation which is clearly evident from the maxim - 'A hand that rocks the cradle, rules the world.' So, empowering girls is the need of the hour.

Thank you

Yours truly
