Let x be larger number and y be smaller number:

A.T.Q:

x + y = 20 => x = 20 - y ..(1)

5x = 7y +4                      ..(2)

Putting (1) in (2):

5(20-y) = 7y + 4

100 - 5y = 7y + 4

Now, transposing variable terms to one side and constant terms to the other:

-5y - 7y = 4 - 100

-12y = -96

y = -96/-12

y = 8                    ...(3)

Putting (3) in (1):

x = 20 - 8

x = 12

Therefore, the larger number is 12 and smaller number is 8.

Hope this Helped!
